Yum Pretzels
There is nothing like warm aroma of freshly baked Yum Pretzels. Golden delicious crust and soft inside.

  1. 1 Clean dry food processor
  2. 2 Baking sheets
  3. 2 Sun Mountain baking mat
  4. Ingredients
  5. 1 Tablespoon Active dry yeast
  6. 1 Tablespoon sugar
  7. 1 Cup warm water
  8. 3 Cups all-purpose flour (tip set 1 ½ cups of the flour aside)
  9. 1 Teaspoon salt
  10. 2 Tablespoons oil
  11. 1 egg white, beaten with 1 teaspoon water and *optional 1 teaspoon salt*
  1. Pre-heat oven to 425 F
  2. First dissolve the yeast in 1 cup warm water stir let stand for 10 minutes. (Use a timer) While you wait add dry ingredients to food processor minus that 1 ½ cups flour. This is because you don’t know if you will need all the flour.
  3. When the timer rings slowly pour the yeast water mixture and oil while pulsing slowly.
  4. When the dough is smooth turn it out into an oiled bowl cover and let it rise in a warm place for 50 to 60 minutes.
  5. Punch down dough and divide until you have 12 pieces roll each piece while pulling to form roughly 17 to 18 inch long strips.
  6. Now shape strips into pretzels by lifting both ends twisting once and pulling down to resemble a pretzel shape.
  7. Tuck in ends Place on baking sheets lined with Sun Mountain Baking Mats (no need for butter or spray oils). Now cover and let sit for 25-30 minutes or until puffy.
  8. Place in oven and bake for minutes until golden brown.
  9. Ready to brush with egg white mixture and sprinkle with a topping of your choice.

  2. You can have plain pretzels or top them off with any one of the following: coarse salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, or dry herbs even grated fresh hard sharp cheese. This goes on after egg wash.
  3. Bake for 13-15 minutes check for good golden color. Let cool before serving.
  4. These are very popular delights especially for tea time and serving guests. Be prepared to see them go quickly!
  5. After making these we mixed some mustard with honey for dipping yum yum yum!
